Program Description

In this session participants will learn more about how to conduct outreach programs for aging populations. These will include how to create memory care kits, outreach book clubs, and mobile book services. Presenters will discuss how to create and maintain relationships with outside organizations.

Learning outcomes:

  • Individuals will learn what remote programming for an aging population looks like.
  • Individuals will learn about memory care kits and ways to reproduce these with minimal cost at their libraries.
  • Individuals will learn how to implement services at assisted living facilities.

Presenter Bios

Brittany Parkhouse has been with the Maricopa County Library District for over two years and has been working in libraries for over six years. She is very passionate about programming for aging individuals and overcoming accessibility barriers for patrons.

Courtney Cook has been with the Maricopa County Library District for over a year and is a paraprofessional at the Ed Robson Library. She has been working with retired individuals for the past year by creating fun programs at the library and bringing programs to their communities. Courtney is dedicated to providing engaging programs as well as materials and resources to her community.
