Title: Launch into the Land Beyond Books with Arizona Talking Book Library

Presenter: Stephanie Doser, Certification Specialist, Arizona Talking Book Library

Program Description

This presentation will provide a glimpse of the different reading experiences and services that are available at the Arizona Talking Book Library when you "think outside the book." The audience will learn how our patrons, who are unable to hold or read standard print items due to physical, visual, or perceptual disabilities, have access to resources, options, and possibilities "Beyond Books" from our connection to national and local partners, as well as the National Library Service/Library of Congress.

This will be done by sharing:

  • Experiences offered by the library and out partners beyond books, such as magazines, newspapers, and even career services and TV listings
  • Who we collaborate with to make those experiences happen, such as the National Federation of the Blind/Newsline, and Sun Sounds of Arizona
  • The variety of methods our patrons can conveniently access and experience the Land Beyond Books with our library or our partners: by digital audio cartridge, personal device, braille, and in some instances by phone, Amazon Echo, or radio
